Skolkovo is the Russian government’s initiative for a new urban community in Moscow’s third ring, 17 km west of the Kremlin. Built ex nihilo, the aim of Skolkovo is to create a globally reputed center for innovative 21st-century technology, embracing research and production, with administrative headquarters for both established and emerging companies, schools, institutes, and a new university: Skoltech University.
