Ephemeral Projects: Prototypes for Another City

By: Contributor(s): Material type: Computer fileComputer filePublication details: urbanNext, September 11, 2018.Description: 6312 wordsISSN:

Subject(s): Online resources: Summary: Having lost the capacity to think the city as a whole, architecture has seen its field of incumbency restricted almost exclusively to the design of the individual building. Because of this, architects can only contribute to the city in a disjointed and fragmentary manner, without ever having the opportunity to conceptualize a project of its totality. At the same time, urbanists seem indifferent to the possibility of defining concrete urban space and more preoccupied instead with issues of operational management of the city. While consistently avoiding any significant propositional stance, they limit themselves to the metrics of abstract metropolitan dystopia.
